Plumbing and drainage inspections are carried out at various stages of the building process. Inspections are requested by the licenced plumber undertaking the work at the following stages of construction.

If you are building a new home, renovating or extending, in an area serviced by MidCoast Water your plumber will connect your house drainage lines to the local sewerage system.

However MidCoast Water needs to inspect this work (as well as other plumbing works in your home) to make sure it meets the required standards.

Any new works, including additions and alterations, that involves changes to plumbing also need to be inspected.

On commercial premises the inspectors check and record properties where treated liquid trade waste is being discharged to the sewer system. Checks are carried out to ensure that the treated waste meets the required standard for discharge to sewer.

The inspectors are also involved in the inspection and recording of the installation of backflow prevention devices. These devices are used to prevent any potentially hazardous liquid from entering the reticulated water supply.
